Can this be done?

I would like a profile drop down box, then depending on what option the user selects from the drop down box it would make a small icon image under there user name.

For instance, say I want to identify my members by hobby. They would goto profile options, open the box, and find "Fisherman". When they save, their posts should look like this:

Can this be done?

I was also wondering if it could be created in such a way that its easily modified for however many options and icons the person who is hacking their webpage wants. Not all of us are skilled at coding yet.
