Moderator Rules

I was wondering if anyone has put together a list of rules they impose on there moderators???

From the "Moderator Duties" thread pinned at the top of my staff forum:


1. Try to be consistent with your decisions and treat everyone equally.

2. If someone posts spam in your forum, edit the post to remove the spam & warn them that free advertising isn't allowed.

3. Do not allow flame wars in any of the tech related forums. If a thread starts to get ugly, either lock it or move it to The Pit. Your call.

4. Never argue or disagree with a fellow moderator?s decision in a public forum. Try to work it out via PM or email.. As a last resort, settle your differences in here.

5. Do not allow "post whoring" or "free posts". This is when someone posts worthless messages that are not relevant to the forum and/or have little or no content just to boost their post count.

6. Do not allow members to post porn pics in any of the forums (see the Forum Guidelines for details).

7. If you are unsure about how to handle a situation, post here for advise.

8. Try not to get involved in touchy threads or serious arguments between members. If you wanna have a little fun, create a 2nd ID (username) to play with. You can speak your mind with it because its just a regular member and doesn't represent the website.

9. If you notice that a thread is loading slower than normal, right click on some of the poster's sig images and select "properties". Make sure the file size isn't more than 15k bytes. If it is, just send the member a private message and politely ask him/her to make it smaller. Some members who don't know any better are linking to full size pictures for their sig.

10. Anything discussed in this forum stays in this forum.
