Hi, morrow. I've been using vbPortal for years (with an old vB 2.2.6 and ALSO with PhotoPost). It wasn't very sophisticated from a coding standpoint, but it worked great once I learned how to customize everything to suit our needs. But this was back when it was available as a FREE add-on and this is no longer the case. Now, you can't download or upgrade it without paying $20 a year.... from now on. That's not a one-time-payment-and-it's-yours-to-keep type arrangement. To use that portal, it's going to cost you $20 each year for as long as you keep using it. If you decide not to renew the license later on, you have to actually remove the portal from your site.
I've never used vBindex, so I can't comment about it. (Lots of other folks here can advise you on that, I'm sure.) Recently, I shut down the old site and I'm having a great time playing around with an all-new vb 3.0.3 test board. I set this up with the vBadvanced CMPS (which is FREE) and I just love it. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a great portal that integrates wonderfully with vBulletin and PhotoPost. Let us know what you decide on. |
