IRC for registerd users only.
I am trying to find an IRC Server that will integrate with Vbulletin and allow only registered users to login via an IRC client such as Mirc. Ive read posts about egg drop and vbxirc but can't tell if it can limit log in into IRC channles by username and password from the vbulletin user database. Is this possible or am I barking up the wrong tree?

vBulletin.org Forum > Code Modifications vB3 > Full Releases (Subforums) > Integration with vBulletin
You see, you are in the wrong forum... Dont worry, a mod will probably move your thread.... hope you find an answer to your question |

Actually I was looking for something that would integrate with the IRC server itself. So that if users come on via a IRC client ir mIRC they would log in with their same credentials. That hacks here I have seen are just web based clients.

That hack allows members from the board to go on to the same server and chat channel that your setup at, it just makes things eaiser for newbie to get into a chat if they don't know anything about irc or mirc.
Members can still get into the chat in irc if they know the channel name. And if your looking for away to keep guest out of the chat that are not apart of your site, then i don't think there is a way to stop that if your running a channel on a irc server. Cause anyone can just go into the chat threw irc. |

The only way to do it would be with the services daemon referring to a database or text list of Users, but you would have to come up with a way to store your database of plaintext usernames and passwords so the daemon can read and compare...
this is probably the wrong palce to ask - u might wanna ask at a IRCd hacking forum ... |
