God damnit i feel like moaning, The internet sucks so much now. I typed a web address in wrong and ended up at some search page, and sure enough it downloaded crap without me knowing like them search bars etc, and now im always getting stupid bloody pop ups and stuff, its sooooooooooo annoying. It irritates me more because this is only a 2 week old pc and already totaly infected. BLAHHH im one angry brit :tired:

English translation: Get Firefox by Mozilla. It's a lightweight browser that is standards-compliant and isn't burdened with the vulnerabilities that ActiveX and super-integration with the OS bring.

If you don't feel like changing browsers, at least have a look at your security settings.
IE can also be setup to not just download everything that comes along.

Is there anything wrong with firefox? will it like work fine with everything? these pop ups are driving me crazy now and grrrrrrrr its a new pc!!

otherwise does anyone know of a nice freeeeeee ( we all want free stuff ) tool that will remove them

XP sp2 if your running windows xp

personaly i am still not a huge fan of Firefox.

There is nothing at all wrong with Firefox.. great browser, built-in popup blocker, tabbed browsing.. that being said, sp2 for xp implements a lot of those same features in IE.. I am just not one for tied in to the OS apps such as the way Microsoft presents them..

for the free tools, i only use Spybot: Search and Destroy - http://security.kolla.de - for spyware based problems/popups/etc..

there is also adaware (i think that's the correct name) and a few others.. but i am not very familiar with any of those..

It'll also show you how to beef up IE's security (prior to SP2)

Ok ill take a look, also i found the source of it all, a little program i downloaded last night called Messenger Plus

Last time i had it, it was fine, for some reason this one came bundled with adware so i removed it and all seems well for now, but thats no reason not to beef up my security
