what are the main differences, if any? is it an important upgrade? i'm still sort of a newb to VB and dont relish the idea of trying to upgrade right now-id rather get more experience first..but if its something that NEEDS to be done, i can do it i guess... but is it really neccessary?

It is always important to stay up to date has new releases fix bugs and sometimes security holes when they apper. I belive just about any upgrade is important if there is a new stable release that has been proven to work (in other words I wait a few days).
Upgrading is not a painful process, if you hack you can use file compare programs or re-hack the php code. It is as simple as uploading the new php files and running /install/upgrade.php. |

Upgrading does not change your templates (=> styles). You will have to check the announcement on vb.com for templates that need changes, but there normally aren't *that* many...
