Actually, I am in much need of something similar, however, I have located a superb example of the desired effect.
http://forum.persiantools.com/ If you can't be bothered to register, just use my account. Username: Logicus Password: lookhere Log in, go to User CP, (and after changing to English if you so wish), look at the profile editor. I don't care what you do, as I don't read Persian, and I don't intend to learn. However, I'm trying to create the same effect for Arabic on www.lexiglobal.net/forums, a board still in production that I hope will have several languages. Unfortunately, although I have installed Arabic, checked the rtl settings, and allowed for an Arabic font, I can't make Arabic textboxes work at lexiglobal. The four cases do not show up in there respective places relative to the word, and the right to left text is incredibly buggy. Help is much appreciated! |

I would try to help you Logicus but only if I understand what you're trying to do
![]() I looked at that board and profile editor, but I fail to see what you're talking about |

thank you for trying, but --
1) Changing right to left text to left to right text and vice-versa in a single text-box. 2) Changing from Farsi to English and vice-versa in the same text-box. 3) Automatically altering between the four letter cases (for example, the same letter that starts a word, is in the middle of a word, ends a word, or is alone, looks different) s7az2mm, if you're still here, you could probably find out by asking in that forum... assuming you know Farsi. They would know what hack was used, and whether or not it has been released in this forum. I could not find it, however. |

I am still not clear on that sorry for being so thick
in general switching languages should take care of that, however if you plan on doing that in a single post .. how about inserting an HTML for DIR in there? you could do that by adding a button in the editor or wherever call it LTR or RTL or both when clicked it inserts a the direction code as for the letter cases you can add the char. code in that button too .. the code for each language intended ... UTF8 or windows-1256 for arabic and so forth. I do understand where the letter changes its shape wither that be start, middle, end of the word or alone PS.. just make sure if you do that button idea to close each tag after the inteded effect, just like any bbcode buttons otherwise you will endup with a mess ![]() I hope I got you right ![]() |

thanks. It sounds like you know what I'm trying to do, but unfortunately, I don't know how to hack. I'll have to, umm..., learn

no hack really. its more less adding something like bbcode or so. add a button in the eidtor and assign a bbcode to it.. when pressed you get change of code with opening and closing tag and in between you type in your text in the desired lingo
![]() no promise here, but if I get time I will make an example for you... just time is hard to come by good luck |
