Default I need to remove all users using @aol.com email accounts

aol is giving my host a hard time saying the confirmation emails being sent to people wanting to sign up on my board are actually spam. my host has asked all vbb owners to no longer accept aol email accounts, and to remove all existing ones. I have alot of older members who are no longer even on the board. over 800 of them that I need to prune but I cannot prune by email address. anyone can tell me how to get rid of all @aol.com accounts in one fell swoop as opposed to deleting each one by hand, I would be extremely grateful. If i need to post this in another forum, just let me know. thanks

It would have to be a query run on your database, what exactly it would be I'm not entirely sure, I wouldn't want to make a guess at it and mess up your database, so make sure you back up your database before you do anything like this.

Cheers,
Robert

This is a tough one - I've moved it to general modification discussion as it's probably more appropriate there

Now I know there are options within the admincp to prune by criteria, however I don't know if you can use wildcards....

tried checking every option but there is not one to allw me to remove them by email address type etc. I have over 800 to remove and the thought of doing each one by hand is a bit daunting.

Get a new host. AOL is pretty strict on inbound email. They don't like it from dynamic IP addresses. They don't like it if it's on ANY RBL. They don't like it if there is no rDNS entry. All of these things are thing you should be aware of and check often. If you get them resolved, you should be in the clear.

But if your host is telling you not to accept members who "don't know any better" and use AOL, I'd switch hosts. Quick.

i appreciate the answers, my host is not the issue at all. I did turn off the ability for anyone to sign up usng an aol account, I have no problem with that. it is just that I have over 800 addresses that have not posted in years that need to be removed. doing each one, one at a time is a bit daunting, I was hoping there was an easier way but apparently there isn't, thanks for your time and suggestions
