Already a feature. When going to mail choose the usergroup underneath the mail form.

Thats a search area...to do what he needs to do would be to "Generate Mailing List" first then send it out. I may release something to this effect anyway since I am making something like this for vBWar...

No, when eMailing Dark Wizard... you can choose which usergroups you send to. Same options as the search function.

Well I stand corrected...I didn't know and just tested it out and it does work.

Here's how:

When in the "Send Email To Users" type in the subject and message, then select in the "Search Criteria" the usergroup(s) you want to send that email too then click the first submit button.

The "Search Critieria" is a little misleading hence my not agreeing with you pie....

Along the same lines, I am contemplating a way to make certain forums that can be accessed by a particular usergroup to ALL be instantly notified via email. BUT........... I want to only send them ONE copy of a message even though they may have either subscribed or autosubscribed by posting a message to a thread.

One way that I have started to approach this is by either maintaining a mailing list address that I add to the forum admin area where you can enter an email address to instantly notify others when new threads or posts are made. OR I have to maintain a string of email addresses separated by spaces to place in same location.

First problem with this approach is as users come and go from list, I have to revist mailing list and/or email list.

Second problem is if they are involved in a thread OR subscribe to a thread, they get killed with email notifications. Not so bad if they only get one per.

Has anyone done this? If not, I would like to collaborate with anyone else that is also interested in this hack.

A problem with the above is that the field into which would be putting these addresses is limited in size, I'm told. I believe it's either 150 or 250 characters, but I'm not sure. (A bit of experimenting would easily determine it.)
