Ok I've tried several of the portals listed on this site, and I'm just not happy with their look. I don't want the floating boxes look, I would prefer something that looks like a regular web page. I don't mind paying a little bit if that is what is required, but I cannot find anything out there. So far the list I see is VBIndex and VBAdvanced. What else is there? Basically I want a news section, a new post section and the ability to create my own pages, but as I said, I don't want the floating box look.
Take a look at Miraserver. The current version doesn't connect to VB 3.x, but the next version (due real soon now) will. Build your main pages there, and just link into the VB system later. I don't know if the next version will support VB access masks specifically, so if you need some type of screening for users to readers to have access to specific sections of articles it may not (or it may, who knows?) do the trick.
We're developing on a current version of Mira so that when the VB3 compatible version ships we can just do an upgrade and be ready to go.

u can easily change everything to look the way you want it because its all done via templates
vBPortal - it's blocky as well. Uses phpNuke tied with vB. I'm running it on my auto site (below). Took a long time to squash all the bugs on the release code for 2.x Not sure about the 3.x release.
