Hi,
I tried to upgrade my vBulletin to 2.3.5 and save all of my current posts so I saved the sql database in the forums. I deleted the /forums folder and uploaded 2.3.5 and used the same database but it completely installed a new forums and all of my posts have been erased. I was wondering since i saved the sql from vB control panel is there anyway I can upload it so I can get all of my posts back? |

Not a good idea to save databse from the vb2 control panel
If your host allows outside connections use MYSQLfront to download it to your comp or see if you have telnet support. (telnet sounds hard but its quite easy really once u know the command to back up and restore and its a lot quicker) Anyway im presuming u after upgrading to vb3 - if it installed a new forum m8 then u never did it right u need to re-do it and instead run upgrade1.php from the install folder instead of install.php which will just install a new forum. The database u already have - upload that back to a new database which we will call test Now in includes - go to config and tell it the database u are using is test and this will connect to the vb2 database and cause you are running upgrade it will take you though the steps of upgrading all your posts etc to vb3 hope ive explained it ok so u can follow. |
