No such thing as a stupid question. I learn things here every week from reading responses to stuff and I have been running a (heavily) hacked vB since fall 2001.

Your 'unregistered' groups will be unregistered/not logged in, awaiting confirmation and awaiting moderation (unless you changed their names -- they are groups #1, #3 and #4). Those are the groups who are not considered 'registered', so anything you want to limit from them, limit on all 3.
