i wanna make a variable, that has a custom color in it. i want it to be like $backtext or something... but i wanna be able to call to it from all templates, how can i do that?

In your CP, scroll down to Replacement Vars - select Add. In the "Code to find" box, enter <blacktext>, and in the "Code to insert" box, enter <font color="#000000">. Select Add again, and insert </blacktext> and </font> in the appropriate boxes, and you'll be able to use <blacktext> and </blacktext> in every template. This can be done with any color.

Sure, you could do that too - but it wouldn't work for a font tag because you need the closing tag.

For instance, you could replace $menu with the html for your nav menu, or something like that.

If you really want to make it a global variable, add this to global.php:

$blacktext = "<font color=\"#000000\">";

Replacement variables are a lot easier to use though. You can edit them without ftping a new file to the server, worrying about parse errors and bringing done your whole system.
