Background Information

vbProArcade is a fully-customizable Flash arcade add-on for vBulletin, complete with game-by-game scoreboards, forum integration, a "champions" system, statistics, and more.

This is an extensive hack that is still in BETA form, and I don't recommend installing it if you are not willing to work through potential issues and future updates/upgrades! I am working on making the installation instructions as easy as possible, but it will probably be some time before it is perfect.

Watch this post for updates as they happen, and check out screenshots from the list below. If you would like to see the hack in action, you may visit my Shadows of Namek forums. You will need to register to play, but you can view the scoreboards and the arcade itself as a guest.

Games

So far, there are FIVE GAMES that work correctly with this hack. They are:

Breakout
Pacman
Snake
Space Invaders
Tetris

All five .SWF files are included in the release archive.

There is now a Flash Games Development Thread for the purpose of modifying existing games to work with vbProArcade, or for creating new games to be compatible with vbProArcade. If you have a game that you wish to see modified but don't know how, post the .FLA source in that thread and hopefully somebody can assist you.

Installation Instructions

Download the file attached to this post, unzip it and familiarize yourself with the contents BEFORE doing anything.

There are TWO separate files worth reading, the Documentation and the Installation Instructions. I recommend that you read both BEFORE doing anything else.

Once you have done this, the instructions to be followed are contained in vbproarcade-install.txt. Follow them as precisely as possible. If you encounter an error somewhere, it is likely that you missed a step or made a small error. Please double-check your work BEFORE posting about problems here.

And it cannot be said enough: read that file before you do anything, and if you are unsure of something, please post your question(s) before attempting to install the hack.

Known Bugs/Limitations

Here is the list of stuff that I know does not work. I will be working towards correcting these bugs BEFORE adding new features for the next release.

Netscape will allow you to play the games but not record scores
If a user uses the "Back" button to go to the game screen, and does not refresh before playing, the score will result in a Security Violation. This is by design.

My kids are really looking forward to playing these games and I only have left to install the Lesane store integration hack before we are ready.

Only one small problem.

The swf files are in /games/ as should be and works when called directly. But they are not loading on the games page, called with proarcade.php.

Can someone please help?

i have broadband cable and it isnt loading so i dont think it has to do with speed.
and i have a request is it possible to place the high score tables on another page?
and how do i do that?

EDIT: fixed.. i had to change /games/ to games/ but the intro movie for pacman isnt working properly the music kinda stops and after a pause then the game starts.

When I hit play, for example, it shows all the screen, without the flash file, although I have not changed the dir "games"name. http://mtrx/club/proarcade.php?actio...game=pacman&s= shows an empty place of the .swf file. Any idea?!

When I exit a game, pressing on the > Arcade at the top, the game intro shows for 1 sec, but only when I exit the window. It's only loading and loading on my localhost. And yes - /games/ is wrong .... must be games/
Plus all the BLOBS where lost and neede to be restored. So nothing works, anyway great work. I will make new icons for your board, if youļl help me to cutomize some php code in it, ok?! :squareeyed:

This actually sounds more like a Flash/client-side or maybe browser issue. I am pretty sure the games themselves are solid.

Check with some of your users to see if they are having similar problems, or to see if it might be on your end.

Sounds like something is set up incorrectly or not being parsed well. The link you gave above does not work; if you provide a correct link with some sort of test account, I can check it out and give you some feedback.

I have a slight problem. I have it setup so that only donating members are only supposed to access the arcade and regular registered members cannot. I took the "registered" group out of the arcade but people can still access it? Why?

Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with:
$vpachampicon
$vpachamptext

I added them in 'postbit' template, however they are not showing.

I saw a few guys have the same problem, but haven't seen a solution for this problem.

My forum is on a subdomain: forum.domain.com

Could someone tell me what could be causing this? And how to fix? Everything else works perfectly!

I had that problem at one time. Changing the admin cp options making sure that was enabled didn't help. In the end I just edited the PHP so there was no disabled function and then it worked fine. Not THE correct solution but I was soon to upgrade to vB3 anyway.

I never understood what was wrong because it had been fine for ages up until then.
