Merging User Databases
Hi, I tried searching the site but couldn't find much. I'm looking to take two vbulleting and Merge the User Database. So if you are a member on one, you are a member on the other. Yet both keep seperate posts and threads and forums etc. I'm pretty sure it's simple, but I'd just like to see if maybe there are scripts to ease the process or if someone has successfully done it already.
Thanks in advance. |

It would actually be pretty impossible to merge users into a vbulletin board. It all depends on how many users you have currently on your board, and whether or not the userid's are taken, or being used.
Basically, if you have a vbulletin database with 5000 users, and ur forum has 700000 users, only half of the database you want to merge in, would be good. |

Actually they do have a script for this. It also has a option to delete doubles I do belive.

Theres a script in the beta forums that I hear is not working so well on newer versions but is working for some. It allows you to keep doubles (if the same username is found user 2 name would be prefixed with _inported or something).

It is very possible to merge 2 vb's with same user data base and the rest separate. I have done so on my testing area.
But the last I seen this is not a released hack by any (or I would not took all the time to do it) Also another reason this is not a hack is due to all the files that have to be hacked and edited, seeing as no one is allowed to post vbulletin files on here makes it hard to release a hack of such nature (unless you wanted go thru a thousands of lines of hack.) |

You shouldn't have to modfiy anything but the import script. Merging 2 forums dosn't require much as long as there both v2x or v3x
And there is a release somewhere cause I tryed it out but I cannot find it right now, but I'll keep looking. |

If you read his post you will see that he wants both running and sharing a user data base.
Not to combine them into one |

I am wondering if any one looked at vb3 to see if they put all the user table quires in one php file so it would make it easier to hack a shared user table.

Well actually, I wasn't planning on keeping the Users of one vbulletin, it's rather empty. It's pretty much a FRESH vbulletin, just using the user database of the other vbulletin. So no worries about doubles or anything like that.
