Banning a problem user

I had one member register once last night (troll from another forum) and then he logged out, and I saw his IP joining again.. so I deleted that account. A minute later, I see his IP joining AGAIN. Delete that account, and then he joins AGAIN, (3 times) so I finally deleted that account, banned his username by usergroup, then IP banned him.

Would you believe that an admin from another forum actually came and flood my forum?? At first I didn't know it was him, but then I put him on Miserable User and he IM's saying "Are the forums down? cause I can't access them." I just blew up! lmao!

Yup, I've had people joining and re-joining just to flood and spam. But most of them don't know a Miserable User hack exists, they just think it's downtime

EDIT: I'd say take the route where their posts won't be shown at all. that way, no one but mods/smods/admin can see the posts and members won't even know that their there. Once the flooder sees no one's noticing him, he'll leave eventually

A forum I go to has what they call a hell-ban... the user is placed on the ban, and I believe they don't get any new posts. So, they sit there flooding and spamming and crap, and no one sees them.

I have an unpublished hack that makes a user invisible to all others except for admins and mods. The user thinks he is flooding the board with his meaningless posts, but in fact he is just talking to the walls.

I have been pretty lazy about it, but if anyone is interested I can publish this hack.

I have other ways of dealing with trouble makers in my forums as well.
