Question on changing and customizing User Titles
Hello Guys,
First of all I want to say this is a great website. I'm looking foward to spending a lot of time here and learning a lot of new things from you guys. Here's my question. I am now running ClubWRX.net which has about 7000 members. When I just started I allowed all the users to change their titles instead of the original junior member, member, and senior member. I was wondering if there's a way to find all the members who is using custom titles and change them back to the standard titles depending on thier user status. For example I want to have all the registered users use junior member, member, and senior member for their titles depending on their number of posts. I would also like to have all the moderators, supermoderators, and vendors titles set to "moderator", "Super Mod", and "Authorized Vendor". Something else that I want to be able to do is to take fields from the user profile and display them right underneath the user title. This is not a priority but if someone can help me with it would be great. Thanks a lot guys! Tim |

Run the update counters for user titles...
And edit the postbit_userinfo template and add: $post[fieldx] Where x = the id of the profile field of their new title Satan |

Hello Satan,
I'm in the update counters page and the default "Number of users to do per cycle" is 1000. I want to make sure what I'm getting myself into before I do this. Can you tell me what the effect on all different types of members of this will be if I hit "update"? For example what would happen to the regular members', vendors', moderators' titles, etc? Also, what happens when I edit the "powerbit_userinfo" template? Where can I edit it? Can you show me examples? Sorry I'm really new at this and I want to make sure I know what I'm getting myself into because there are about 7000 registered members and I want to be careful and not screw things up. Thanks for your help! Tim |

I was able to locate the postbit template in version 2.3.0 and this is the code that exists right now.
<a name="post$post[postid]"></a> $post[firstnewinsert] <normalfont><b>$post[username]</b></normalfont><br> <smallfont>$post[usertitle]</smallfont><br> $post[avatar]<p> <smallfont>Registered: $post[joindate]<br> Location: $post[field2]<br> Posts: $post[posts]</smallfont></td> I want add a custom user profile field in between the avatar and the usertitle and my problem now is I don't know what field to plug in. I know it would be $post[somethinghere] but I'm not sure what to put there. And since it's a custom user profile field it might not even be in that $post[somethinghere] format. Any suggestions? |
