vb smilies on non vb pages

i did a search for this and didnt find anything, what i want is, i have a news script that a friend wrote and i want to integrate vb smilies into that

hes tried to figure it out but so far no luck

any ideas?

You could use the same as a swearing filter:

on the places of ++++ was: f.uck

Use preg_replace, not the slower ereg* functions.
