vB hacking difficulty?

It really depends on the kind of hack and how long it is.

Basically all you need to do is follow the instructions carefully and usually nothing goes on. Of course you should hack it into a test board and/or back up everything before you hack.

The RPG hack has an automatic install file (if you're talking about Bitsys's). It does most of the hacking for you so it's pretty easy. It includes the itemshop so you don't have to rehack

Bitsys also offers support for the hack and he tries to answer every question he comes across

The bank hack is actually 2 hacks. Pretty easy to install. All you have to do to customize is edit the templates. I installed it with no problems

All hacks usually have some kind of support. You don't need to be an expert in PHP to hack. Just a careful eye and definately patience. Be aware of exact lines you need to edit and don't go too fast.
