Anybody hosted with Ventures Online? Any recent troubles?

vo has been nothing but good to me, though I have had some sort of snafu with fopen that seems to baffle everyone, other than that my service with them has been flawless over the last two years, and AFAIK I am on one of the junkiest servers they have.

Are you on a shared server or a dedicated? Cause even the Junkiest dedicated server is probably still better than the best shared server.

We host our site with VO and have been very impressed.

We've only noticed once or twice when the server was down.

They have been much better then our previous host, but that might be because we're on a dedicated server.

I have had a lot of issues with our VPN at VO. Most of them were when the VPN was new; however, we recently started hitting our memory ceiling so I upgraded to a bigger VPN. VO support has always been great. I have used cheaper hosts in the past and had nothing but trouble. Therefore, I continue to pay the premium price for support.

When dealing with tech support people, always remember that being polite and nice always gets better support than being rude.

When I was hosted through VO I never had any problems. That was probably about 6 months ago though so I'm sure much has changed. I was also hosted with Racknine for a few months, but had to move about 2 weeks ago because they were having similar problems with server loads and such. I've been with Pixie Host for the last 2 weeks and so far everything with them has been great. Granted that's not enough time to get a good feel for their service, but so far they have been able to handle my site better than anyone else I've been with. Their prices are really cheap too.

They are cheap, but they don't offer very much bandwidth with their accounts. That's one thing I think I'm going to need.

So what type of problems specifically were you having with RackNine?

Did you check their reseller plans? I'm using their P3 reseller w/ 50gb of bandwidth per month.

The main problem I was having with Racknine was the server load jumping from anywhere between 20 and 100 at times, and of course kill the server. They tried moving me to a different server 3-4 times which would solve the problem for a few weeks or so, but it kept happening. I would think they would be ok for smaller sites, but mine usually has 40-60 users on at a time and I think it was just a little too much for their servers to handle.
