free/paid access
I am about to purchase and install vBulletin but have a question and the folks at vBulletin suggested I come here to ask.
My site, http://www.classic-british-cars.com, offers a membership that allows members to post classified ads. Ideally, I would like to have vBulletin where all site visitors could read the forums but only members could add/reply in the forum. My system for charging for membership creates a ID/Password file. Has anyone hacked a system to allow reading of a password file to restrict access? Thanks for any advice or help. Doug Wilkinson |

well you can set the options so members can post and non members can just read, that's easy and doable with normal vb.
no such a hack isn't around as i know, but i think it should be possible to create such a hack to get password out of file instead of getting it out of the db.... |

Or (IMHO the easier way) edit your original script to use the vB user table instead of an external source.

There is a classified ads module for vBPortal, which is a portal system you can add on to vBulletin.
