This is probably due to the user hoping proxies. If I view a vB from Uni and then loggin, there will be two sessions created by me, before I logged in with one proxy and after I have logged in as I have switched proxy, which I as the user have no control over.

Well not all people that use aol are evil. I sign up for all the forums I go to using my aol account. What happens if someone doesn't have a "non free" email account?

Its most likly a security issue and they want to make sure you purchased vBulletin. So u have to use a e-mail from the domain u are running it fromm

The system I have is to allow current members of good standing to recommend friends. You'll find that most people find a way if they really want to join your site.

Its not that. AOL uses proxys, the proxys give false readings on users ip's and such, it also causes problems with the who's online.

so, if he allowed aol email addys then one of these aol users decided to spam he cant get rid of them via a IP ban. so hes preventing something that could cause him alot of problems in the long run by not allowing aol emails to reg.

err... well its a debatable topic my mind...

i personally wouldn't do this at a forum that i owned... on regards to that i would lose alot of members based upon my member base...

as for vbulletintemplates i guess that is okay... personally im an AOL user so if you think AOL sucks and i didn't use it then i wouldn't be here hacking :P

as for proxys if they use another email address thier ips still are aol based... (for aol users)

since i only have a yahoo mailing address probably have to wait sometime before i join...

either way i personally wouldn't do this at my forum... but i know Saint Dog has his priorities... regards...

I don't allow hotmail or yahoo accounts on my forum. Don't need the extra headaches. Besides, whats wrong with using your email address from your ISP, or your domain?
