If I read correctly, you can just provide recognition for the graphics at the bottom of the page, like is done here at vbulletin.org.

I doubt phpBB will allow this. The same thing happened with the UBB style Craig Armstrong did a while back.

I'm just looking at vBulletin's templates -- it's going to be a major re-work to copy the look of the new phpBB. For example, you'll have to add a backround= (or probably incorporate it in a style and define it in CSS) tag for all < td>.
