Computer gurus.
On my *other* system I am having sort of a little problem. . While tryuing to connect to my ISP, it gives me the dang message, "The computer you are dialing into is not answering.". I've tried reinstalling and it everything, but I keep getting that message. IT just happend two nights ago and I have yet to figure it out. But when I use my *other* system, it connects with no problem.. MY modem manufactor quit supporting their cards sometime last year. Would anyone know how to fix this? If not, could you point me in the direction I could find out more information on this kind of problem? Thanks.

are you using two differnt isp's or numbers to connect? i asume not Oo, but it is the only thing i could figure out that would cause such a problem if the card had been working before, install any new software on that comp lately?

No. I am using the same number, ISP, tcp/ip settings. Everything is the same almost. And no new software was installed the day it quit working. But I did use it during a thunderstorm, but if it was hit, I would've been disconnected more than likely, plus it runs through a surge thingy.

Okay all. Instead of buying a new modem today, I got a brand new thing called Ethernet made by LinkSys. Now it has two cards, two cables, two lines, the main box thingy, and the power cord.. Now is there any way on earth I could use this as an alternative to using a modem on one computer and just be able to use the one on the other system? If so, what are the steps? Just install it and there I go or what?
