Displaying only specific categories in today's active threads/view new posts
I'm using 3.8.11. I've searched for an answer, but I haven't found on how to what I want. A few people have asked similar questions in the past.
My forums structure is categories with many sub-forums. Forum 1 --- Forum 2 --- Forum 3 --- Forum 3 --- Forum 4 I know you can include or exclude specific forums by adding &include=1,2,3,4 or &exclude=1,2,3,4. Is there a limit on how many forums you can include/exclude? I read in a post on here that you can add &child=1 and it would display only the child forums, but it doesn't seem to work. I want to make custom searches that will display all the new posts from the sub-forums of Forum 1. Is it also possible to set up a category and display all the sub-forums posts under one category? I have it set up this way: Depth of Forums - Forum Home - 1 Depth of Forums - Forum Display - 1 Depth of Sub-Forums - 1 I want to display all posts under one category, but keep the individual forums structure. |

I'm not sure to understand your point, but if you want to do something like vbulletin.org, you can use the vBulletin conditionals in the templates to get completely independent forums (header, content, footer, etc) and display the posts on a forum by forum basis. This is what I did on my version 3.8.11.
I stay on vBulletin 3.8.11 precisely for the power of the vBulletin conditionnals and the ease (I am not a coder) of applying them to the vB3.8.11 tables. |

I already have individual forums with their own headers and images. Some members say I have too many sub-forums, so I was wondering if it was possible to search only specific categories or display all the posts under one category while keeping them separate. It would be more of a convenience thing than anything.

... own logo, own content, random content etc. Nice! I have it too on my vB3.8.11.
Quote:
1) using the conditional on each forum and/or usergroup and this on a forum by forum basis. 2) using this product or the equivalent for the most recent topics/messages on a forum by forum basis (in changing the variables) https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=201274 3)... You can see it in action for a photo forum at https://vimeo.com/322127748 (sorry, it's in my first language). The latest topics/messages are in the table at the right side. |

The add-on looks pretty good, but a little complicated to get working. I would be concerned about the server load. I was hoping for a more simple solution to do custom searches.
