A litle question about VB desingers?
I'm very interested in setting up a regional community web site with VB. Having put together and run a very large Invision forum in the past I'm well familiar with the concepts of a forum, and am an old-days programmer that can get around well enough installing, moding, and maintaining web sites. However, I have not yet used VB and additionally I am no designer and not very good with CSS. And I want the site to look like much more than simply a forum with a nice theme. For example, I really like how far the site gotakeahike.com was taken.
So, I'm looking for a VB expert that is well-versed in VB, VBadvanced, and whatever else I'll need, and is a good designer. I'd like to do as little or no code hacks as possible to facilitate upgrades (which always make me nervous). I need a designer that is responsive and can take a little time to work with me on features, options, layout and such, in a professional relationship. Where can I find such designers? Is there a list anywhere? If anyone reading this is such a person please pm or email me (not sure I have pm/email ability since I don't have a license yet) or post here. Please include a link to your portfolio page or a list of some sites you've created. Thank you. Oh, and also, I'm thinking I should just go buy a license and load it up and start playing with it. I'm going to get a new hosting account for this project. Are there any hosts that specifically have tuned their servers to work well with VB, and understand it should there be some problems.? I remember when I had Invision, I had all sorts of problems that were caused by my host not setting some values optimally for the product. |

If you don't own a licence you won't be able to receive PMs.
The only place to solicit paid work on this site is the Request for Paid Services forum which you can't post in until you have a VB license. However you can read the sticky threads and announcements in the mean time- they are warnings that the system is totally use at your own risk, we do not vet anyone who may respond, and we do not take sides in disputes, even if you have proof someone is a scammer- go to the police, don't make a big thread about it here. You can leave a feedback only in the thread you started on the Request for Paid Services forum and nowhere else om this site or vbulletin.com. And other important stuff. Finally, vBAdvanced is dead, it would be a monumentally bad decision to start a forum in 2018 relying on vBAdvanced that hasn't been updated in years. Consider trying a vBCloud account- one month for $20, if you hate it very little lis lost if you like it you can keep monthly or go to annual billing to save some money long term. You could also purchase the download version instead at that point and get your own host. |

Yep lots to admire there, starting with the fact it doesn't load. Gives us all something to aspire to.

Any time someone who is not a registered member comes in and their first post is a link to some site no one knows anything about I assume it's spam. Here, let me post some BS backlink to my site on an established site, because "SEO"

He didn't actually post a live link but yeah, I always assume spam too when a site is mentioned or linked in the first posts.
