Hi,
We've got two sites both running their own licenced installs of vB5, both sites are on the same VPS, and they are both car related sites. One site is 11 years old and has several million posts, and the other is a new site setup last week. What we'd like to do if possible is to allow members of the original site use their existing login and username to access the new site which caters for the more recent model of the car. I see that on vB4 their was a bridge called cerberus. Would this still work in vB5 or is there an alternative. Any help would be gratefully received Regards Pete |

addons or mods from vb4 are not compatible with vb5.
I looked at doing something similar once, but never tried it. The idea was to copy the users table records into the new forum records. However, if the new users table already has users in it, it would require the userids in the old table to change. The usergroups would also need to be setup identical. If you attempt this, make sure you do it on a test installation and not on your live site. I see no reason why it wouldn't work. |

Cheers Replicant, We had a feeling that we may have to do something like that, but was just hoping there was an updated version of that Cerberus plugin somewhere for vB5..
