Do scheduled tasks still cause page loads to hang?
I noticed back in 2006-07, there were several discussions of behavior where the footer pixel that triggers scheduled tasks caused some browser to hang while the task was being executed.
The best explanation I read was from Analogpoint (who unfort hasn't posted here since 2007): Quote:
I've pinged those threads, but I'm curious if anyone here knows whether this is still an issue? I'm hoping that with current browser versions, this issue has hopefully been resolved. Thanks in advance. |

that was an issue with vb3, vb4 does not have this problem that I have ever seen. Do you really need to ask this in several posts?

Personally I never saw this issue with v3 either. Obviously it was a issue though.

IMO, if you want to use a plugin which would resolve this, i would use this one (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=164477) instead of the others which you posted on. |

Thanks for the tip, Dragonsys. If this isn't an issue for the top 3-4 browsers, then I think we are ok w/o a plug-in to remediate this.
Apologies for pinging the legacy threads and creating this one. I created this one b/c the legacy threads were dormant for quite awhile, and also fairly deep in the forum hierarchy. Appreciate any further confirmation from other members here re: whether anyone is seeing this with Chrome, Safari, FF, or IE/Edge. |

I use the plugin I linked anyway, as it moves it into server cron, so slow boards still complete scheduled tasks on time.
