Default New Site/Domain login issue

Yesterday I have purchased a new domain from godaddy and renamed the name servers to point it to my hosting company. Today morning I hv edited the config file and .htaccess moved all the old site files to new domain through FTP. Then uploaded the db file to dbase.

But when i tried to log into my admin panel. It is redirecting to the old site. I am neither log into my account or register to the new site. Everything is pointing to the old site only.

I don't know where i have failed to edit the settings.

Need your help plz

Did you change the settings for the url in the admincp before moving? If not you can do it through phpadmin in the settings table. Just look for the old domain there and change it to the new one.

@RichieBoy67,
Did you change the settings for the url in the admincp before moving?
No I did not

I tried to do it as you said. But lack of knowledge there, i came back.

Actually I am about to move the entire old domain files to the new domain. For that i have taken backup of both root files and DBfile. But the thing is i have done some changes to the old domain files which doesn't meet my requirements. So I have uploaded the backup files to the new domain. So there is no chance of changing the settings for the urls in admin cp. But changed the .htaccess and config files before to uploading them to the new domain.

Now, when i am typing the new domain address, in the address bar the new domain name is visible but I am not able to login to my admincp. If i have tried to register it is poing to the old domain.

The old domain is working fine but the new one is not permitting me to enter into it

thanks for your reply

When you create the database backup to use for the new domain, make sure to turn off the vbulletin site, go to AdminCP > Settings > Options > Site Name/URL/etc > Forum URL and change the domain to the new domain and then make the database backup and use this backup for the new domain/site. (Then you can change it back to what it was and turn back on your site.)

@Lynne you are correct. But unfortunately it was happened. Is there any way to make it correct and enter into the site with admin privileges?

I don't know which file to edit for the present position. Hope you can save me from this.

Thanks @Lynne; Today i have replaced all the root and db files with the backup files on a test subdomain and as you said renamed the urls and moved those files to the new domain root and upgraded. Now it is working fine and thanks to all for your replies

I would have given you the same instructions as Lynne but seeing as the site was already installed opening phpadmin and editing the settings table would have been much easier. Ofcourse if doing it from the start you should change the domain settings before backing up and moving.

For next time:
It(phpadmin) should be an option on your server. You just log in using the same database info you entered in your config file. Once there you see the list of table in alphabetical order on the left side. Scroll through until you see the settings table and then click on it and choose "browse".. Then scroll through looking for your url, change it to your new one where ever you see it. Simply click on the url and enter your new one.. Bam.. done in about 30 seconds. Much easier then switching back to your old domain, changing the admincp, backing up and then reimporting.

Actually, not quite that easy. It needs to be changed in the datastore table also, which is serialized data. Just changing it in the settings table will not fix the issue. So, he'd have to either fix it in the datastore table (and if you aren't familiar with serialized data, you can screw this up) or you would need to upload the tools.php file to the /admincp (as well as upload the /install directory) and then Rebuild the Bitfields. That will fix the datastore table entries.

Thanks Lynne, Your right, better to change in both the settings and datastore. A search in phpadmin will find the old urls to change.

That's why you get the big bucks.
