Board Optimization - Proxy Alert

FORMALLY KNOWN AS TOR ALERT! PROXY ALERT TAKES CONTROL OF YOUR FORUMS WITH THE NEXT LEVEL OF PROTECTION! 3.8 VERSION HERE.

I've searched high and low for a modification that can detect Tor or proxy users. Personally I've had one too many banned members just create another identity and troll about. Now let proxies and TOR... Give you problems NO MOR! Now when those pesky proxy and Tor users visit your site, you can block them and redirect them to a custom error message!

You can also alert your members that proxies and Tor is not a nice thing to use! You can customize the message and it also allows to be closed.

Installing:
1.) Upload everything in the upload folder to your forum root.
2.) Navigate to AdminCP Add/Import Product
3.) Select product-toralert.xml
4.) Install the modification
5.) Set your options in the AdminCP
6.) Mark Installed


Upgrading:
1.) Upload everything in the upload folder to your forum root.
2.) Navigate to AdminCP Add/Import Product
3.) Select product-toralert.xml
4.) Check yes to Allow Overwrite
5.) Install the modification
6.) Set your options in the AdminCP


*Not working?
1.) Disable automatic template edits in the AdminCP
2.) Navigate to the navbar template in your style
3.) Add {vb:raw toralert} to the bottom of the template

Ok so i went and paid for the pro version

I then tested my website via this proxy address here https://hide.me/en/proxy.It then showed this message below



I thought brilliant it works then i then tried another 10 proxy websites and out of them ten i could view my forum on 6 of the proxy sites.So does this plugin only work on a select few proxy sites

proxy but I don't use one, my only connection is wi-fi

I had similar problems with the pro version too and too had to disable for now on my forum due to member complaints.

I'm not sure what else to try to try and get in contact with the author. I posted here and sent them a PM here but as yet have not received a response.

Do let me know if you have any luck getting in touch with them and I'll of course return that favour.

I didn't mind paying for this, it was only 10$,But i am a bit upset that i have had to disable it straight away.

The proxy plugin won't allow me and I don't use a proxy server, just wifi...

If you go over all settings you can stop this picking up member groups so it only works with guests so if he sees it as a guest once he logins he won't get the proxy message

Generally many countries allow LAN Proxy through Network service provider. The services are being provided through a proxy. I disabled just the LAN Proxy and things seems to be normal.

The thing is though the biggest thing I'm trying to use this mod for is to scan non logged in members/guests to try and stop hacking activity so I have it set to scan members and non-members. What you suggest might be a workaround if the members concerned still have a forum cookie on their PCs with their login credentials in.

Sorry, there hasn't been many suggestions or posts in this topic in awhile so I haven't been actively following it, but that is a wonderful idea to scan non members and post alerts. I do still plan on bringing a logging system to this plugin, but haven't had the time. With this new plugin I had an idea for and have started working on, I could actually port the logging system from it over and have that as well, so that you can just monitor everything, members or non members.

Checking out their IPs they are using either US cable company or ATT cell/mobile internet connections. I would recommend only using TOR detection if you want to block any members as proxy and web proxy detection could be falsely triggered from a non dynamic IP.

Thank you for your assistance in my absence. It appears I am not getting emails from my subscribed threads, I will be reaching out to the vB team in regards to this. In the meantime I will keep an eye on my PMs while I am working to push out my new product, which will aim to prevent spam and possibly multiple account creation.
