cant register new username when changing it via admin

Hi,

i had problem with one user that didnt get emails from my site, so after a few tries i decided to change his username and try to create new username with the previous username (with different email)

i just failed to register with his old username with the error "username exists", but it doesnt exist any more in my admin search and also in user DB.

please help,

I had a similar experience. It seems names from deleted accounts are still stored somewhere and aren't available for new accounts. The only thing I could suggest is finding it in the database with phpMyAdmin or some such, and delete it on the server.

it doesnt located in user db.
where else should i look for it?

To try to temporarily get around this go to ACP --> Settings --> Options --> User Registration Options and set the setting, Username Reuse Delay to 0
