So, i was doing a little more research on this cron hack, but it seems as though this hack is made for forums that have large mailing lists, and generally send out tons of email, which i do not. I do have a fairly large forum with about 30k members though. The delay also happens when you reply in a thread with 1-2 posts, so not really sure what's going on.
You guys still think that this cron hack will be appropriate for me? Thanks guys. |

Well, that was based on the fact that you said turning off notifications made the delay go away. If you aren't using the mailqueue, then any subscriptions have to be sent as soon as the reply is posted, and that could take time. It doesn't really matter how many posts there are in a thread, only how many people are subscribing. But you did say that you *are* using the mailqueue, so I have to admit that that makes it less clear. It does seem like it shouldn't take that long just to queue up the mail, especially since you said you don't have a large volume of mail. But I have no other ideas myself, and it seemed worth a try, since I don't think installing it is a big issue and you can turn it off or uninstall it if it doesn't fix the problem.
Anyway, maybe someone else will have an idea. |
