new user fields in the CP

I want to add a couple of new fields to the users CP, but not regular text fields. I'd like to add an option box and maybe a radio button. Any ideas where I should start?

I'd like to add first name, last name, and address... also looking for a starting point........

i'm not looking to have the info displayed publicly, it is only for website use and is covered in the privacy policy posted on the site.

to ThoughtDiver -- just go into your User Profile Fields to add in a new field and choose YES for Field hidden on Profile?
