Make Quick Reply optional for users in VB 4.2.1
Hi all,
I've read about template changes that make the Quick Reply a user-setting via a custom profile field. But these guides were for 3.x VB, does anyone know how to achieve this with 4.2.1? Thanks. |

Do you mean to have a box in user profile where others can say something or in a post

If you want to make Quick Reply something users can turn off then do this.
1) Make Sure Quick Reply is ON for everyone. (Admin CP -> Settings -> Options -> Message Posting and Editing Options ) Make sure Quick Reply is one of the YES options. 2) Go to the Admin CP -> User Profile Fields -> Add New Profile Field - Type: Single Selection Radio Button -> Continue - Title: Disable Quick Reply? -Description: Allows you to turn off Quick Reply -Options: Code:
No Yes Field Searchable on Members List / SHow on Members List: No for both -Display Page: options - Thread Viewing -Leave everything else as is -Save Now write down (or just rmember) the name of the field listed for this option. It will be field5 or field6 usually, something like that. I'm going to assume it's field5 for this example. Now go to the Admin CP -> Pugins & Products -> Plugin Manager Add A New Plugin (at bottom of the page) Title- Quick Reply Disable Hook - global_bootstrap_init_start exec. order: 5 PHP Code: Code:
global $vbulletin; if ($vbulletin->userinfo['field5'] == 'Yes') { $vbulletin->options['quickreply'] = 0; } SHould now work. Go to User CP -> General Settings to turn quick reply on or off. |
