I've searched the forums extensively and not having much luck finding a mod that would help me here.
I'm running 3.8.x on a large forum and heard different things about version 4+ so I have held off. What I'd like is to improve "Thread Rating". I don't think the 1-5 star system works well since a 5-star thread could have 1-2 votes or 10 votes and it's not clear which is better (since they're both 5-star). I'd much prefer to have a +1 / -1 system for a total score of the thread, similar to what you see on sites like SlickDeals and Reddit. A one-click AJAX option would be ideal for voting as would displaying the total score on the forumdisplay next to each thread, replacing the 1-5 star graphic. Can anyone point me in the right direction on this, or does this just not exist? Thank you! |

Anyone seen a hack that might help me here?
I just want to turn Thread Rating into a +1 or -1 rating system. |

v123shine -- Thank you for passing that along. It looks good for posts and I'll take a closer look at it. I was hoping to find that exact thing for threads... a +1 or -1 (like/dislike) for the thread, and have a number attributed to that thread.
A +20 is a great thread. A -6 is weak thread. Etc. The problem with thread rating (aside from the multiple clicks it takes) is the 5-star system doesn't make much of a distinction based on the number of votes it receives. A thread can be 5-stars after 2 votes or 5-stars after 60 votes, but the 60-vote thread is far superior. I want something that is quick, painless and gives users incentive to upvote or downvote a thread. |
