You may want to try a new host. But, if you are running query intensive modifications, you may need more than a shared server is going to give you.

I mean if you insist on using modifications with many queries, and having so many non-web optimized images, then you may have to move up from shared hosting.

Those looks fine, but I think they assume you have more access to your server than I am guessing you would have on a shared server. Are you allowed to install Memcached? Can you modify the my.cnf file? Upgrade mysql? Turn off apache modules? etc (Also, you only linked to one thread - they are both the same.)
