Default [Review] Best Spam Mod

This is only a review and my .2 to the best spam mod around. It may sound over rating but it works and I'm happy with the results.

I was getting hammered with spam and spent most of my time on my board removing them.So below is what I'm currently using without any issues. It's requires that you set your settings to your needs, To best fit your site.

1. Spam-O-Matic - Spam Firewall stops forum spam
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=248042

2. KeyCAPTCHA - Interactive CAPTCHA with Social Features
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=257294

3. Spammers suck!
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...hreadid=289463

4. vB Bad Behavior (vB4)
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=261498

I'm using spammer suck mod as the front end.If spammer sucks mod fails then glowhost will catch it it will always work. Try it out !!!!

How does that happen? It's not designed to catch human spammers, therefore if a spam account gets through, is it human? Is it a fail?

To your list I would add Ban Spiders by User Agent and although it's not specifically a anti-spam mod, it's very handy in that arena. For example, if you ban all the early IE such is IE 2-6, you wipe out a big percentage of the autospam right there...

I also use Hostname or user agent registration ban to stop spam registrations from the amazonaws, yandex, and many other host names.

well, i did some testing with glowhost disabled.I would say out of 20 tried to register 5 was able to get through. So with glowhost enabled it stopped them.

for Ban Spiders by User Agent i thought about it.Then i remember that pc user never update/upgrade there pc and they're still using an early version of IE. But i do have that as a just in case mod Hostname or user agent registration ban i'll consider in the future if all else fails...

Your time setting is key. Anything under 15 seconds helps the bots. Some folks have gone as high as 19. Page load time is a factor, if it's slow, it helps the bots and it can BE slow on alot of them, because of some of the really bad proxy connections they use.

There are SO few humans using these early versions of IE you're safe to exclude them. It's mostly OLD computers in factories and offices in the far east, long forgotten and just sitting there day after day, being a botnet zombie.
