Enhanced Logging to access.log?
Is there a solid mod out there that does enhanced logging to access.log or to a custom log?
What I need to do is log all user log-ins on authentication, along with IP, to the log. We need this for enhanced security on our private board. This is not a public board, before anyone raises concerns about privacy and so on. I am sure that this is a one-liner mod to a single file or two, but would like some feedback on if this is already out in the wild, considerations and caveats, and so on. Any help, pointers to file/methods, accepted and appreciated. --------------- Added [DATE]1347632881[/DATE] at [TIME]1347632881[/TIME] --------------- Bump |

I've never used it, but there's this: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=280052 that sounds like it logs quite a few things. There's also this: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=232636 . There may be others.
If neither of those log the info you want, and you're specifically interested in logins, I think that could be done with a pretty simple plugin by writing the info to a file. |

Those look to be very comprehensive mods that deliver a lot of functionality, very nice. However, I just want to log logins. A log file, new or existing, that lists who logged in (manually or automatically, both) and a timestamp, along with their IP, for tracking. To be clear, this can be a server-side file with no in-forum forms or exposure, that is fine. I'll write scripts to do host lookups, sorting, etc, then mail me the file every day.
We've having hijacked accounts into a private forum by ex-members, so this is pretty important. The nice thing is, the level of effort to supply this information should be pretty minimal. As I was saying, I believe it would just be a line or two of code in the appropriate do_login function, really. I just need to have expert pointers on what file, what function, and the line to add. Me trying to figure this out will take 10x longer. |

I did something like that a while back. It was for vb3 but I think it would work for vb4. Anyway, I posted it here: www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?p=2162962
