How to speed up confirmation emails
Confirmation emails seem to be not going out immediately someone registers. I tested this today and didn't get the confirmation email till over 30 minutes later (and gmail doesn't delay showing me emails received).
Ideally, we want the confirmation email to be sent out immediately and while the user is still on the site. How can this be done? |

Confirmation emails should go out immediately, but I've found that it sometimes takes time for email to be received. I have a test system set to send out emails using my isp's smpt info, and I receive them using an email account that I have with a different provider, and sometimes it takes a while for them to be delivered. If you do a test registration and have an email sent to your own address, you should be able to look at the headers and see where it's getting delayed.

Hmm, I've tried that and you are correct. The delay was at the receiving end. Thanks
(I find I can't thank you via the button any more till I spread my thanks out). |
