how to alter the icon legend in forumdisplay

Hello all,

I have a issue with the icon legend in forumdisplay. The problem is that the icons have to be bigger than 16 x 16 px to be visible properly, but it messes up the style a bit.
So what i want to do is display the icon legend in two columns (see pic) and change the margin between the lines.
