I've always been a fan of the default style - maybe change up the color a little bit though to make it a little more interesting.. and maybe throw an icon of some sort into the logo..

We added a favicon, but the logo isn't my domain

On the old phpbb forum, we had the same theme as the rest of our site, but we ran out of money, so we couldn't get a custom theme for the vbulletin forum
