"Forgot Password" Form Error
Hi VB community!
I've run into a strange issue on our VBulletin forum, so hopefully somebody has seen this before... We are running the latest version of VBulletin 3 and I received a report from a user today saying that the forgotten password form is broken (/login.php?do=lostpw). The form correctly displays and asks for a user to enter their email address. We use "Random Question" security in the forum to prevent spambots from signing up as well and so that also displays. Upon correctly filling in the email address and password, the form does what it's supposed to and emails the user. Great so far. The only issue is that it then redirects to a page which shows the following message: "The answer given for the random question was incorrect." Unless anybody has really seen cases where removing the random question from the password recovery page has led to some kind of spam invasion or something of the sort I'm not opposed to removing it. If anybody knows how to fix it, that would be awesome too. Thanks for reading! |

Try Disabling Hooks and see if you still have an issue. If it goes away a mod is causing the issue.

Hi BirdOPrey5,
Thanks for the prompt reply. Though my reply here is anything but prompt, I'd just like to confirm that disabling the hook system did in fact solve the issue. I'm not sure I want to learn enough about the intricacies of VB to figure out why, but thanks again! Cheers, Corey |

You probably don't want to keep "Hooks Disabled" indefinitely. It's more a tool to confirm if the problem was with vBulletin itself or a modification. Since it's working with hooks disabled it means that a modification you have installed is causing the issue.
The easiest way to trouble shoot is to re-enable hooks and disable your mods 1 by 1 until you find which one is causing the issue. Once found you can ask in the mod thread if anyone else is having the problem/look for a solution. If there is none you should consider removing the mod. |

Same error here.
The OpenX time/clock "hack" is known to cause this. Disabled the OpenX plugin, and the problem appears to be gone. Stupid OpenX. (FIX YOUR CRAP, OPENX!) - |
