$username
We have a welcome thread that is created as so as a new member registers.
Lately, our Welcome thread program seems to be going crazy. We get random welcome threads created that far surpasses the number of actual members registering. These welcome threads have $username filled in, instead of the new members name. Has any one ever heard of this this happening, and if so, why is it happening and what can i do to fix it. Please keep in mind that my tech knowledge is very limited....Up until a short while ago, I thought a server was someone who served you in a restaurant - to give you an idea how green I am... Appreciate any help i can get on this issue. |

Questions/Problems regarding modifications/styles need to be asked in the modification/style thread. That is where the support for modification/style is - not out here in the main forums. Please note that if a modification/style is unsupported (or even if it says it is supported), you may be on your own if you chose to install it.

If it isn't default vbulletin, then it's a mod, and Welcome Threads are not default vbulletin.
And if you are remembering to click the Install button on any modification you decided to install, you should see a Welcome Thread mod under User CP > Installed Modifications |

You can check to look what mod it is, though.
Go to your AdminCP, and look under "Plugins and Products" for the "Plugin Manager." Search that page for a plugin on the hook register_addmember_complete (or maybe another hook with "register" in it), and it should tell you what Product (modification) it's a part of. Then search here for that modification. |
