Similar threads

Hi,

I'm looking for a mod that will work on version 3.8.1 that will show similar threads like this forum does.

I searched but didn't come up with anything. Is there one?

there is none because this is a default feature for the last 4 years... i coded the only similar addon in 2004, so i suppose it is obsolete by now.. lol

here is how to activate it:

>> AdminCP+>> vBulletin Options >> Message Searching Options >> Automatic Similar Thread Search

Hmmm, well I already have that activated and it doesn't seem to be working.

did you at least activate this one:

>> AdminCP >> vBulletin Options >> Thread Display Options (showthread) >> Show Similar Threads?

the first one is usually less obvious, that's why i posted it... but hey

Yes, that one is and always has been activated.

You also have to rebuild similar threads (Maintenance > Update Counters).

Any chance that in the future there can be a feature to add this under the first post? I honestly don't see how anyone would scroll to the very bottom of a forum to see this feature.

I'm sure it's possible to do this right now, but I just don't know how. Any chance I can get pointed in the right direction?

as it's just a template, you can easily modify the firstpost in the class_postbit to call the proper variable that display the similar threads...

No, it doesn't work that way. Myself and many others have tried that and someone mentioned that we'd have to put the the code in a separate php file and call it wherever we would like for it to show up.

i cant still do that. I've edited class_postbit, showthread.. but it doesnt work.

I want to show similarthreads in postbit. Which php files.. or which codes..
