• 1.0.2 - Added social networking to Profile with additional options and many other minor changes.
• 1.0.3 - Fixed a bug with the postbit settings and added a new setting.

Hi guys,

This was initially a template modification i created, i decided to make things much easier for people to compile it all into this product,

What is Social Networking in Postbit & Profile:

Well the name pretty much gives it away! This mod will add social networking icons for 10 social websites into both the vertical and horizontal postbit and now in a users profile with features like:

• Option to turn Modification on/off.
• Option to enable icons with or without a block.
• Option to turn profile block on/off.
• Option on location of profile block.
• 2x Icon sets 16x16 and 24x24.
• Mouseover and Mouseout animation.
• etc.

-INSTALLATION-

-STEP 1-
Goto admincp -> User Profile Fields -> Add new User Profile Field and add the following fields:

Profile Field Type - Single-Line Text Box
Title - Twitter
Description - Add a link to your Twitter profile.
Field Searchable on Members List - NO
Show on Members List - NO

Profile Field Type - Single-Line Text Box
Title - Facebook
Description - Add a link to your Facebook profile.
Field Searchable on Members List - NO
Show on Members List - NO

Profile Field Type - Single-Line Text Box
Title - Google+
Description - Add a link to your Google+ profile.
Field Searchable on Members List - NO
Show on Members List - NO

Profile Field Type - Single-Line Text Box
Title - Bebo
Description - Add a link to your Bebo profile.
Field Searchable on Members List - NO
Show on Members List - NO

Profile Field Type - Single-Line Text Box
Title - MySpace
Description - Add a link to your MySpace profile.
Field Searchable on Members List - NO
Show on Members List - NO

Profile Field Type - Single-Line Text Box
Title - Linkedin
Description - Add a link to your Linkedin profile.

Description - Add a link to your Tumblr account.

Profile Field Type - Single-Line Text Box
Title - Flickr
Description - Add a link to your Flickr account.

Profile Field Type - Single-Line Text Box
Title - Youtube
Description - Add a link to your Youtube profile.
Field Searchable on Members List - NO
Show on Members List - NO

Profile Field Type - Single-Line Text Box
Title - Vimeo
Description - Add a link to your Vimeo profile.
Field Searchable on Members List - NO
Show on Members List - NO

Once you have created the profiled fields, take a note of the field numbers.

Note: If you do not want to use all of these websites then just add the fields of the websites that you do want to use.

-STEP 2-
Download the attached zip file, extract the files, open the UPLOAD folder and choose which icon set you wish to use, the options are 16x16 or 24x24 icons. Once you have decided, FTP the images folder to the root of your forums.

-Step 3-
Goto admincp -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Add/Import Product and upload the install file (product-socialpostbit.xml).

-Step 4-
Goto admincp -> Options -> [Boydy]Social Networking in Postbit. Now you must decide how you want to configure the mod, you can see examples of with/without block in the screenshots below. Next all you need to do is input all of the relevant profile field numbers and that's it! If you do not wish to use some of the websites included just leave the setting blank or set to 0.

And that's it! Screenshots below of the icon sets, admincp settings and the mod itself. Credit for the icons goes to sawb.What's new in version 1.0.2:

• Social networking block now added to profile.
• Option to enable/disable profile block.
• Option on location of profile block. (TOP, MIDDLE, BOTTOM)
• Some minor code and template changes from original release.
• Added version checking to the mod.
• etc.

What's new in version 1.0.3:

• Fixed bug with postbit setting.
• Added new setting for enabling/disabling the postbit only.
• etc.

I do have some other idea's on how to further extend this modification which you'll see in a future update. If you are upgrading please remember to ALLOW OVERWRITE.

Tbh., PayPal ain't really a social media, it's a virtual payment gateway, plus there is already a mod, which includes a PayPal donation.

Anyhow, I'd wonder, how would be the most effective way to edit the "My Social Networking" headline area. In normal profile, it looks all right, but in the postbit? It is just way too much intrusive for my taste, e.g. especially the bold font.

I've done the steps 1 - 4 on the first Page, my numbers are right.
Wenn i fill out my Profile the following error occurs:

Well,

step no. 1 - 2 ain't really affecting the functionality of this mod, weird, since the coder forgot to mention that.

Step no. 1 is there to just explain you to create as many "User Profile Fields" as you need. This mod supports 10 social media, so that's why the programmer tells us to create 10 user fields, but that's fairly not necessary, you can go by just with one.

Step no. 2 is there to just upload some icons, if you skip it, mod will still work, but there will be most likely [x] instead of those icons.

Step no. 3 is the most crucial one, since you're uploading the .XML, which is basically the core element for this mod.

What the creator also forgot to mention was that when you're in options for this mod, you need to paste the "User Profile Fields" ID to this mod or else - use the ID for the particular user profile field, so the mod would know, which URL it should link to after click.

Xfire Single-Line Text Box - Editable - field8 - [Edit] [Delete]

That's something, you will see in your ACP. Now, go back to the mod options and write "8" to your desired profile field. It should work.

The error message is weird, I've never encountered with it, but for me, it looks like you just misplaced some profile field IDs.

Also, what vBulletin version you're running?

Are you aware the 16x16 images are about 50kb EACH? No joke, take a look for yourself.

This is really bad for SEO. I am re-saving the images in Photoshop. No reason for a png file of 16x16 to be more than 1kb.

PLease help i did the installation and when i add for example youtube it redirects incorrect

Ditto I'm using version 4.2.0
Well it seems another mod not woring correctly, I have fixed this by going to either

postbit_social
postbit_social1

depending on what View you use in the options
and edit the following

Example
<a target ="blank" href="{vb:raw social.twitter}">

to

<a target ="blank" href="http://twitter.com/{vb:raw post.field10}">

On my profile pages the user's name isn't inserted in the Title/Alt tag. I think the problem is the variable it calls is post.username when it's the profile and not the posts page.

alt="Add {vb:raw post.username} on Facebook"

It should be {vb:raw prepared.musername}.
