misc.php causing huge process usage

Lately it seems that my misc.php has been using lots of processes and will severly slow down the forum. is there a way to stop that? I mean I cant tell what plugin may be causing that. Help?

is someone leaching your images somehow or attacking you?
I don't see why any mod would use it? but I could be wrong

Plugins that use it will have misc in their hook. I think it's misc_start.

Anyway, the information you're giving us is pretty vague.

yes i know. sorry but idk what else to give. like i said, idk what is causing this. i looked up that hook and this is the only plugins i have that do it:
DBTech Advance User Tagging Lite
VSa - Advanced Forum Rules
VSa - Chatbox
VSa - Login to User account

I dont think anything is stealing images on our site. we dont have much images anyways.
I rly do think it's the chatbox but i've seen sites that have pretty muchall these mods yet their site doesn't go down as much as mine.

oh i tried. thats another thing i forgot to say
They said this:
"In order to check processes use "top -c" and "ls -la /proc/<process ID>" of that defunct process."

I did top -c, found the process ID, but cant type ls -la /proc/<ID>" and every once in a while the process ID would change, so i cant just reset my ssh connection and use the same process id.

You're probably right about the processor usage being due to the chatbox. An easy way to check would be to disable it for a day or two to see the impact.

Is your chatbox mod up to date? Have you taken a look at its settings for optimization?

How many concurrent users do you have on the forum? Do you know the specs of your server? Your current hosting might not be able to handle your mod configuration.
