can i install vbulletin in localhost for testing purpose?

Hello friends,

I just bought vBulletin suite license few months back..Right now i am running 4.1.2 version..i am planning to update 4.1.5 ..but i am not good in technical part..Basically i am from business background..My technical person went on one month leave..Now i am only managing everything..

Can i install vbulletin in local host using xampp for testing purpose..I want to check everyhting works fine before i host in my original forum..If i can't install vbulletin in local host,is there any ways to test...

Really i need help from you guys...

Be advised it's a long complicated procedure to run a test forum. Unless you have a need to develop modifications I would advise against going to all the trouble. Most especially if you aren't a technical person.

Think about it. So what if you get 4.1.5 working fine locally? Eventually you'll have to update the version on the server and at that point your successful test results will mean nothing.

You don't need to install testing forum if you just want to update. I recommend to take a back up, then update. In case any thing goes wrong, you can restore the old forum in 5 minutes.

i need to take only database backup or full backup..i just took full backup using my cpanel backup wizard...
