I am doing a similar add-on with jQuery.
Will release an alpha version soon, if interested please PM.

We have decided to release our rights to the Live Topic mod so that it may be ported to support Vbulletin 4.x and released publicly, under one condition that the ported mod be released for free with no paid addons/gold/premium version.
