Registered Users Showing as Guests

Recently we changed from the vBulletin login/registration to one from an outside database. Users now login using the outside login which passes the username info and password to the vBulletin adminand they get access. New registrations have their information passed along and it populates a new user record and they get set to be registered.

Problem is that even though they are registerred users, part of the registered user group all the new ones are labeled as "Guest" and have limited rights.

Has anyone experienced this or have any idea what I need to do correct this issue.
