RSS HTML to BBcode: Replacing Spaces with Asterisks?
Greetings. I am trying to use the RSS feature, but I have been encountering a problem. At some point between pulling html from an RSS feed and converting the HTML to BBcode, some spaces are being converted to asterisks. For example, when the RSS feed pulled:
Code:
<strong>SWG Galactic Civil War and Player City Statistics- 14th of December 2010</strong> Code:
<strong>SWG Galactic Civil War and Player City Statistics-*14th*of*December 2010</strong> Does anyone know why this his happening and how to fix it? Thanks in advance! |

I don't know, but I have a theory. Maybe some part of the process sees a "non-breaking space" character as some sort of special character that it doesn't know how to represent.

Hmm. I'm not sure. This is happening in both vB3.7 and vB4.x. Any way to fix it?
The feed is here: http://stratics.com/frontpage/feed. |

Yeah, looks like those places with asterisks are hex C2A0 in the feed, which I think is the UTF-8 encoding for a no-break space. So it kind of looks like whatever you're using to convert it to a post isn't decoding it right, or else it's deciding to display that character as an asterisk for some reason).
(I should say that I don't know very much about character encoding and I had to google it to figure this out, so I could be wrong). |
